Master Mitchum visits Ingrams' new dojo
Seldom does a person get to meet a legend. Ingram’s Karate Center of Florida feels lucky to have had the chance to do just that! On Thursday May 20th, Master Harold Mitchum came to Ingram’s Karate Center’s new Carrollwood dojo to present an awe-inspiring symposium.
During the sessions we opened with the traditional ‘charts’ that were done by the students at Master Shimabuku’s dojo. American Marines and Okinawan students warmed up to these very stretches and exercises while under the training of Master Tatsuo Shimabuku, and the students at Ingram’s were thrilled to actively participate in a piece of Isshinryu history. We also learned about the kumite techniques that Master Mitchum learned while training in Okinawa.
All those in attendance were intrigued to learn about what it was like to be a student at Master Shimabuku’s dojo, and Master Mitchum answered questions about his time on Okinawa.
Ingram’s senseis and students would like to thank Master Harold Mitchum for giving his time to bring to us an experience that we will never forget. We feel humbled by your knowledge and experience, and we feel blessed to have had the chance to train with you!
